Business Therapy Sessions

Kristen Buchanan, owner of SownWell Farm, Textiles, and Business
Therapy, will host one-to-one free business therapy sessions during Oregon Flock &
Fiber Festival. What is business therapy, you ask? Well, perhaps you’ve been burning
the candle at both ends, trying to make ends meet, care for your family, steward your
animals, plants, and legacy. Perhaps you’re ready to find away your business can work
for harder for you. If you are, business therapy will make it possible.

You may be a farmer or rancher, shepherding a few, hundreds, or thousands of sheep.
You may be a fiber artist, weaver, or spinner looking to turn your projects into a fully
fledged business. You may be a soap maker, delicately combining goat’s milk and
fragrances to enhance your customer’s day. You may be a carpenter, skillfully joining
cedar to create works of industry and art. Whatever you may be, you are vital to your
community, and your business is vital to your ability to provide for your family, live your
values, and enjoy your daily work.

Sometimes, however, things get in the way of that. Things seem to steal the abundance
we’d hoped for. But with fortitude and an attitude of curiosity and openness, that can be
changed. Business therapy is here to help you along that journey.

During the 2024 Oregon Flock & Fiber festival, you’ll have the
opportunity to have a personal, private, and free business therapy
session with Kristen. What can you do during this session? Anything! Kristen will
ask you questions to help identify where you are in your business or project, what’s
working and what’s not, and a few first steps that can help you move forward toward the
success you design for yourself. In addition, you’ll find dozens of free resources from
the local and state level for business development! You’ll walk away feeling more
confident, ready to dive into your business with renewed excitement, and support
behind you. Bring your knitting, spinning, or handwork and enjoy a comfortable, calm,
and private conversation in service of your business!

You will not be sold anything at your session, and there is no obligation to connect with
Kristen in the future. These sessions are purely for the benefit of the fiber and farming
community!

A little about Kristen…
I have worked with and helped to grow hundreds of businesses since 2013, when I
developed small business curriculum at a nonprofit in Oregon. I have run my own
businesses since I was a teenager - from jewelry making, art sold in galleries, to
learning design consulting and a $2 Million venture-funded tech startup. I’ve developed
a reputation for being both honest and direct while also being understanding and kind.
My method of supporting business growth begins with supporting the business owner: I
strive to help you identify limiting beliefs, old stories that aren’t serving your goals, and
what the success you’re trying to reach is - and how
you can get there. References are happily shared.

Business Therapy sessions will be held in a private space in the guilds area of the
Santiam building, directly behind the marketplace.
